4 GREAT mountains inside 3 GREAT Days
This will be a challenging trek that aims to bag England’s four 3000ers: Scafell Pike, Scafell, Helvelyn and Skiddaw: three superb days of hill walking taking us through classic Lakeland scenery. This is an exceptionally long and arduous trek taking us through classic Lakeland scenery. Total = 55.3Km / 35 miles plus around 4000m of ascent.
Outline Plan:
Friday - night meet up and go through final kit checks.
Saturday - (16Km & 1400m in ascent) we'll head out of Seathwaite to bag our first two three thousanders - Scafell Pike and Scafell.
Sunday - (Maximum of 17Km & 1155m in ascent) will take us to our third of England’s 3000s – Helvelyn. Depending on how the group are feeling - and maybe the weather too - following this summit we can continue along the tops making this a marathon of a day - or just head back down - but flexibility is easily catered for on this day.
Monday - (11Km & 850m in ascent) a slightly shorter day with our walk that will go directly to the summit of Skiddaw - the last of the English 3000’s.
Fitness level:
These three days can be demanding and long. However some flexibility is afforded in the route which will allow people to skip sections if need be. This weekend will be ideal then for those of you already with some hill experience happy to be pushed a little to the next level . . .
