Challenge4Charity 2009
Fifty's the limit, Saturday 27th March 2010 WAS the date !

IT'S DONE FOR 2010, BUT WILL BE BACK IN 2011 !! WATCH THIS SPACE !!

£10,000 will keep one Mountain Rescue team funded for one year – help us to raise £10,000 for the Peak District Mountain Rescue Organisation by taking part in Challenge4Charity 2010!

Some words from previous years' walkers . . .

"Two days on after saying never again, I'm already considering doing it again next year!" James Spooner

"Dear Will - a great weekend - many thanks for organising it ... Please thank John for the best cup of tea I have ever drunk at Little Longstone - and an even better one at Calver. As for Philippa's pasta and flapjacks !!! Stupendous." Janet Pitt-Lewis

". . . a big thanks to you and Mrs Will and all the marshals and helpers who made this event possible.I would also especially like to personally thank the lads and lasses who looked after my son James when he was unable to continue after High Rake . . ." Ian Thompson

Will4Adventure is now planning the next Challenge4Charity in aid of the Peak District Mountain Rescue Organisation: this will be an insane 50 mile sponsored walk through the Peak District National Park.

Wherever you stop – we’ll pick you up – how far will you go? Challenge4Charity 2010 is a continuous sponsored walk - with no opportunities for sleeping, or for separate team members to walk separate stages - it is purely a case of walk … as far as your legs will take you! With regular marshals and support drivers you have the option to walk as far as you can up to the maximum of 50 miles inside 24 hours.

To that end pick up points will be located at the 10 mile point, the 15 mile point, and then at two and three mile intervals thereafter until the half way point. After 25 miles, walkers will continue in small teams and be supported by a vehicle which will meet them at one and two mile intervals.

The Route

The route is circular and will start and finish in Sheffield, via the half way point in Bakewell. While it is not hilly, it is in the Peak District - so there will be hills to walk up and down: though nothing too steep. It follows footpaths, bridleways, and byways, and some roads. It is easily navigated and pleasant to follow.

Before the event all walkers will be given a set of written instructions to help them find their way. In addition marshals will be located along the route to show the way.

Maps
OS Landranger 1:50,000 sheet numbers 110 and 119.

Timings
This event will commence on Saturday 27th March at 7am. It will finish on Sunday 29th March at 7am … or when walkers can walk no further - whichever happens first!

Refreshments and Feeding
Walkers are requested to bring and carry a lunch pack and a large assortment of snacks to take them through the day. In addition Will4Adventure will provide drink stations at marshal points and a hot meal at Bakewell for all that want one.

Accommodation
The issue here is that you may finish your walk at 3 in the morning so be sure to book a hotel that knows this and is happy with this arrangement. We will be happy to provide details of local hotels and a campsite that can help.

Cost
This event will cost you £30 per person to enter. Late entries (after 28/02/10) will cost £35. No entries can be taken on the day.

Please note that this event is a non-profit event. We encourage you to raise this fee through sponsorship and hopefully - you may raise even more! But, an initial payment of £30 gets you entered into this event. Cheques should be made payable to
Will4Adventure.

Event Support
This entire event will only work with the help of volunteers. That begins with us - but we are also looking for kind souls to fill these jobs:

* drivers to ferry people back to rendezvous points (day and night shifts)
* stationary marshals to check people through the check points

Let us know if you are willing and able to help us out and please do ask around if you know anyone that may be able to help. Your assistance will be vital, and we assure you, you will totally enjoy being a part of the team on this great day.
